Deborah Thomas descends from three generations of goldsmith and jewellery makers. Coming from humble beginnings as a little girl, she spent numerous summer vacations in her late Grandmother’s goldsmith’s workshop. Watching for fun her Granny making jewellery and gemstone dealings with her numerous clients. Sometimes to keep her busy, she would make jewellery for fun out the scrap materials left over in the workshop. After high school, she then proceeded to study and achieved an Honours degree, B Eng (hons) in Civil Engineering in London. For Deborah, construction and design has always been a fascination. Her passion had always been in jewellery and business as this was what she grew up with, so she started making jewellery as a hobby during her teenage years. Being surrounded with gold, gemstones and tools from a very young age laid a foundation of skills in Deborah's mind and soul that makes her creativity quite remarkable. Her successful hobby now led to establishing a jewellery and gemstone business in 1994.

Deborah is an established entrepreneur currently engaged in venture capital, real estate and finance. As a self financed university graduate, she understands and appreciates the numerous difficulties associated with self-development and becoming successful. Her passion for reaching out to others in need led to the creation of the Deborah Thomas Foundation in 2009.

The Deborah Thomas Foundation funds mainly Education for children in different parts of the world with a view of assisting towards various childhood developmental skills and initiatives that will reduce poverty in children. Deborah believes that children are the bedrock of our society and education is of great value as this will motivate the children and secure them a better tomorrow. This consequently helps to reduce poverty, which will eventually reduce society social problems.
